Synchrony Financial has announced that we are one of the first issuers to offer our private label credit cardholders the ability to add your cards to the new Samsung Pay mobile payment service. Samsung Pay works virtually anywhere you can swipe your cards.

The service leverages Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology, which replicates a card swipe and is compatible with existing payment terminals that accept magnetic card swipes. Samsung Pay makes secure mobile payments more accessible for merchants without requiring a point of sale device upgrade. This allows Synchrony Financial’s merchant partners and you, their customers, to enjoy the benefits that our cards offer as well as the secure, convenient mobile payment functionality you desire. Samsung Pay is currently compatible with some of the private label credit cards available on this website, which provide financing across a range of industries, such as: automotive; electronics; health, wellness and beauty; home furnishings; and sporting goods.

The Samsung Pay app is locked by fingerprint or PIN, making it immediately more secure than a traditional wallet. All Synchrony Bank private label credit card accounts in Samsung Pay are device-specific (meaning a card can only be added to and used by one phone) and domain-restricted (meaning they only work in the merchant’s store), providing additional security.

  • Why should I use Samsung Pay instead of my plastic cards?

  • Samsung Pay offers a simple and convenient payment experience as well as the security of tokenization.

  • What is Tokenization?

  • Tokenization is a method of replacing your sensitive payment card information (Card Number, Expiration Date, Security code, etc.) with a device-specific 'Token' which acts as a surrogate value. In mobile payments, Tokens are used to protect and secure your payment information.

  • How do I add my card to Samsung Pay?

  • From a supported Samsung device, launch the Samsung Pay app and "Add Card". For full instructions, please visit www.samsung.com/pay and launch the FAQs.

  • The card image I see in Samsung Pay does not match my physical card. Is there an issue with my card?

  • No. The card displayed in Samsung Pay may not always exactly match the physical card. The key points to look for are:

    1. The Card Issuer is Synchrony Bank
    2. The last four digits of the physical card.

  • How do I make in-store purchases with Samsung Pay?

  • First, initiate Samsung Pay by either swiping-up from the home button or opening the Samsung Pay app from the home screen. Next, select the card you want to pay with. Then, verify your fingerprint and touch your phone to either card reader or NFC reader to complete the transaction. Alternatively, you can enter a 4-digit Samsung Pay PIN instead of your fingerprint.

  • When I attempt to register a card to Samsung Pay, a message is telling me that it cannot provision my card. What can I do?

  • We suggest contacting Synchrony Bank for further information (the phone number on the back of your card). Not all card types are eligible to use with Samsung Pay. Additionally, there may be other requirements for your account to approve provisioning a card with the Samsung Pay service.

  • How secure is Samsung Pay?

  • Samsung Pay uses Tokenization, a Secure Environment, and Samsung KNOX to secure your payment information. Additionally, either your fingerprint or 4-digit PIN is required to authorize in-store purchases.

  • What should I do if my device is lost or stolen?

  • If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Samsung's 'Find My Mobile' service to remotely disable Samsung Pay or to remove all the payment cards registered onto your device. Please visit https://findmymobile.samsung.com for further information.
